Clearly, Verizon 3G Coverage makes AT&T look like a joke.
Last time we looked at AT&T Coverage, they definitely didn't get rave reviews. To be exact, they rank 3rd when it comes to the best 3G coverage. Sadly enough, Verizon also picked up on this tidbit and started poking fun at them.

At the time of this ad, Verizon had 5 times the 3G coverage of AT&T.
Is There Anything Good About AT&T Coverage?
Yes! (thank heavens).
AT&T doesn't do terrible for 3G coverage in urban areas and along major interstates. To their credit, they're working to make things better.
Seemingly taking note of the many 3G data outages that took place last year, they're looking to make improvements (and profits for their shareholders). In their January investor update, they spoke specifically to improve quality in "high-usage markets".

Snapshot Analysis: Remember the horrible reliabilty percentages above? Those should get better especially in the places it counts.

It all depends on where you plan to boogie with your broadband card or 3G netbook.
While we can chat all day about the ins and outs of AT&T coverage, its reliability, deadzones and the like, it means nothing if you can't figure out if you've got coverage in your backyard. So, let's do just that:
