WiFiRents Broadband Cards & Mobile Hotspots

2011 Mobile Broadband Rental Review

WiFiRents.com has 3 types of broadband cards and 1 mobile hotspot available to rent:

Broadband Cards:

Most manufacturers have pretty much stopped making ExpressCards and PC cards in favor of USB broadband cards and mobile hotspots.

Because of this, many older devices are no longer supported by the manufacturer.

If you’re going to get a broadband card, go for the Sierra Wireless 881 USB or the UTStarcom UM175. These are the newest of the bunch and will have a lower chance of failure.

While WiFiRents may have their technicians or repair facilities in place to keep older devices running, why go for a 1990 Honda Civic when you can have the 2011 model at the same price?

Exactly.

Mobile Hotspots:

If you can afford the higher price and aren’t attached to getting a broadband card, I’d highly recommend renting the Verizon MiFi 2200.

It allows you to connect up to 5 devices wirelessly, there’s no software to install and its compatible with any computer that has WiFi.

This is especially useful if you want to get online without the hassle.

Next, see how much getting a broadband card or mobile hotspot will cost with WiFiRents.
