What's The Best AirCard For My New HP laptop?

I just bought a new HP laptop and I want the ability to access my email and surf the web while traveling.

I've never had a laptop or an aircard.

My friend who works for an AT&T outlet told me to not waste my money getting into an aircard that includes new data package, just remove the sim card from my AT&T phone that has a data plan on it and insert it into an aircard for use in my laptop.

Now which aircard? Please help!

Editor's Response:

Hi,

Your friend's advice could cost you an arm and a leg.

While it's physically possible to do that, you run the risk of AT&T viewing your usage on the AirCard as tethering (and charging you extra for it). Also, depending on your usage, you may run up against the data cap AT&T has in place on your phone. While they advertise it as unlimited, 'erroneous' use will definitely set off an alarm (since laptops use much more data than phones).

If you still wish to go that route, check out How To Pick The Best Broadband Card. It'll walk you through everything you need to know.

To Your Success,

Marc
